Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach Among 11 Most Beautiful U.S. Libraries: Fodor’s Travel

WEST PALM BEACH, FL. (June 13, 2022) – The Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach has been named among the 11 most beautiful libraries in the United States by Fodor’s Travel. In recognizing the “awe-inspiring” and “magnificent” library as an architectural marvel that is an impressive destination to admire and explore, Fodor’s Travel noted the library’s prime location in a vibrant community near the Intracoastal Waterway, the structure’s tropical feel, city skyline views, and wide range of programming.

The library made the list with other noteworthy library destinations including Seattle Central Public Library, the Indianapolis Central Library and Los Angeles Central Library.

The Mandel Public Library, located at 400 Clematis Street, opened in 2009 and serves annually more than a half million visitors. Its four floors of plentiful offerings include books; reference materials; archives; a KidSpace with summer programs that include free small group tutoring, daily free lunches, baby sign language and much more; Studio 411 art center; technology and innovation center; an on-site licensed social worker; homework centers, and hundreds of free programs and lectures each month.

“We take such pride in our library, from the hundreds of free programs and virtual offerings, to every detail of the space, that it is such an immense honor to be recognized among the most beautiful and treasured libraries in the country,” shared Lisa Hathaway, Mandel Public Library Director. “Libraries are one of the greatest treasures in every community where people can come to relax, learn, enjoy; we want to ensure that all ages in our community can do that here in a welcoming environment in the heart of West Palm Beach.”

For those who prefer a virtual experience, the Mandel Public Library’s growing digital library features an expansive offering of books, movies, magazines and more. These can be accessed for free with a library card, so you can enjoy in your home, by the pool and on any summer travels.
