Writing A New Story in 2020

HAPPY 2020!  As we enter the new year and new decade, we look forward to writing a new story for the WPB Library Foundation with great optimism and excitement.  The Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach is an incredible City gem that enriches and strengthens our community, serving over 760,000 children, teens and adults each year.

The WPB Library Foundation is committed to raising funds for the Mandel Public Library’s free quality programs, services and resources that build community and meet the needs of a diverse and growing population.  Our beloved Library is an important community institution that relies on a strong partnership between private philanthropy and the City of West Palm Beach. Together we can create an inspired community where children excel and adults thrive.

We are optimistic about our 2020 plans to:

  • Grow Our Fundraising
  • Raise Awareness of Our Mission
  • Inspire More People to be Community Builders and Generously Support Our Public Library

Please feel free to contact me or visit our website at to learn how you can help write this new story and strengthen and enrich our community.

With Gratitude,
Tami R. Lesser
Executive Director

Dog Tales PAWS-itively Helps Young Readers

The research confirms what our Library already knows!
A recent University of British Columbia study found that reading in the presence of a pooch may be the page-turning motivation young children need.  “The findings showed that children spent significantly more time reading and showed more persistence when a dog—regardless of breed or age—was in the room as opposed to when they read without them. In addition, the children reported feeling more interested and more competent.”

The Dog Tales program at the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach is an example of how the library helps to meet the needs of our community by finding innovative and fun ways to engage children with reading, improve literacy, and create a love of learning.  The West Palm Beach Library Foundation is committed to raising funds to support Dog Tales and other important free reading programs for our local children.
