WPB Library Foundation Hosts Black History Month Reception
WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (March 29, 2023) – The West Palm Beach Library Foundation hosted a Giving Society reception at the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach on February 25, 2023, in celebration of Black History Month. The event was sponsored in part by the Honorable Ann W. Brown, and the West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority.
During the evening, guests celebrated Black History Month with special guest speakers West Palm Beach City Administrator Faye Johnson and Palm Beach State College professor, Africa Fine. Dianne Bernstein, the Library Foundation’s Immediate Past Board Chair, had the honor of introducing Professor Fine, who spoke about ‘The Power of Words’. Steve Mayans, newly elected Board Chair, remarked “Our two guest speakers engaged the audience with their insights into the impact of authors and libraries on black lives.”
“This event was one of many Giving Society events that our Foundation hosts to bring together our most dedicated library supporters. We celebrate the inspirational and educational programs, such as Black History Month that our library delivers to the community,” commented Dean Dimke, WPB Library Foundation executive director.
The West Palm Beach Library Foundation Giving Society is a committed group of individuals who invest in the Foundation’s mission by providing critical financial support for the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach. The Foundation raises funds for the Library to provide free quality programs, services, and resources such as job help, homework centers, and cultural programs that serve thousands of children, teens, and adults every day. The Giving Society consists of six recognition levels, starting at a minimum annual gift of $1,000.
The event was catered by Sandy James Productions with full bar service and passed appetizers: Asian Fusion Tuna Tacos; Angus Beef Sliders; Lemon Artichoke Chicken; Chevre, Caramelized Onion, & Mango Quesadillas; and Palm Beach Cheese Puffs. Additionally, there was a buffet of desserts that included Homemade Cookies, Fudge Brownies & Lemon/Raspberry Bars.
